Exchange of the day

Me to man at counter: So, tell me about this muffuletta.

Man at counter: Ok, it's not like at Central Grocery. And, who's ya mama an' them?

Me, laughing: My mama was a school teacher from New Orleans. My dad's from Philly. You from New Orleans?

Him: No, but I've dated extensively in New Orleans, and people who don't know about Central Grocery don't say it right when they order.

  1. Lol. I've been craving things New Orleans of late. Maybe it's the city's way of calling me home... Po-boys from Mother's, beignets from Cafe DuMonde, buttermilk drops and king cake from McKenzie's (which breaks my heart every time I think about it), jazz brunch at Brennan's or Commander's Palace.

What does it say about me that I daydream about food? Well, at least it's really good food!
